Matric Mathematical Literacy Practice Test โ€” Grade 12 NSC

Free Matric Mathematical Literacy practice questions. Covers finance, measurement, maps and scale, data handling and statistics for Grade 12 NSC.

Mathematical Literacy is a practical subject โ€” every question is set in a real-life context. This practice set covers all four CAPS content areas: Number and calculations (percentages, ratios, rates), Patterns, relationships and representations (graphs, formulae, tables), Space, shape and measurement (area, perimeter, volume, scale), and Data handling (statistics, probability, interpreting graphs).

The most important exam technique for Mathematical Literacy: always read the context before attempting any calculation. The scenario tells you what to calculate and how to interpret your answer. Students who skip the context and jump to numbers lose marks even when their arithmetic is correct.

A calculator is permitted in both papers. Use it to check your setup, not to replace understanding the problem.

Study tip: Always re-read the question after getting your answer to confirm you answered what was actually asked. Many errors come from calculating the right thing but answering the wrong question.
