CompTIA A+ Practice Test โ€” Core 1 & Core 2 (220-1101/1102)

Free CompTIA A+ practice questions covering Core 1 (220-1101) and Core 2 (220-1102). Hardware, networking, OS, security and troubleshooting with full explanations.

CompTIA A+ (Core 1: 220-1101 and Core 2: 220-1102) is the most widely recognised entry-level IT support certification globally and the standard credential for help desk, desktop support, and field technician roles in South Africa. This practice set covers both exams: Core 1 (mobile devices, networking, hardware, virtualisation, troubleshooting) and Core 2 (operating systems, security, software troubleshooting, operational procedures).

CompTIA A+ questions are scenario-based โ€” you will be described a problem and asked to identify the most likely cause or the correct troubleshooting step. This set is designed to build the scenario-recognition skills that the actual exam tests, not just memorisation of facts.

Both Core 1 and Core 2 must be passed separately. The passing score is 675/900 for Core 1 and 700/900 for Core 2.

Study tip: For troubleshooting questions, always apply CompTIA's 6-step process: Identify the problem โ†’ Establish probable cause โ†’ Test the theory โ†’ Plan of action โ†’ Implement solution โ†’ Verify and document. Recognising which step is being asked about narrows your answer significantly.
